Study notes

  • The document describes OEE as a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) measure.
  • OEE is calculated as Availability Rate x Performance Rate x Quality Rate.
  • The worked example uses availability 90%, performance 95% and quality 99% to obtain 84.6% OEE.
  • The six major losses listed are failures, adjustments, minor stoppages, reduced operating speeds, scrap and rework.
  • Some companies add other measures to the six major losses.
