Kassow Robots KR810

The KR810 is a seven-axis collaborative robot arm with a 10.0 kg payload and an 850 mm reach. It is built for shared workspaces, with sensors that detect overload and a controller that monitors joint torques for collision detection. The arm is programmed through a tablet-based Android interface and offers ROS/ROS2 and PROFINET interfaces.

Study notes

  • Seven axes allow an infinite number of elbow positions for a given end-effector position.
  • Interfaces stated: ROS / ROS2 and PROFINET.
  • Programming uses a modern tablet-based interface on the Android system with block-based programming and a split-screen concept.
  • Footprint of the standard base as stated: 130 x 130 mm.
  • Joint speed as stated: 225 deg/s.
  • Capability bundles (Cbuns) are available for OnRobot, Robotiq, Pickit and Sick2d peripherals.
  • REMII offline programming emulates the full robot system on a computer without a teach pendant.
  • CBunX framework lets partners build customised user interfaces.
  • Page also names KR1240 and KR1824 in the product listing but gives no specifications for them.

Safety

  • Collisions are detected by two independent subsystems: at controller level by calculating the torques expected on all joints, and at joint level by a control loop that controls position using torque.
  • If the torque requested by the control loop differs from the static torque by more than a threshold, the robot goes to emergency stop and an error is shown.
  • The cobots are equipped with sensors that detect overload.
  • A risk assessment analysis has to be done before operation.
