What is the maximum spindle speed of the INDEX-TRAUB TRAUB TNX160?
32000 rpm, per Turn-Mill Center TRAUB TNX160 | INDEX Group (index-group.com).

Study notes

  • Two identical main and counter spindles are provided; spindle clearance is Ø42 mm or Ø65 mm depending on configuration.
  • Chuck sizes up to Ø130 mm or Ø175 mm are available depending on configuration.
  • Motor milling spindle options are 18,000 rpm with 29 Nm or 32,000 rpm with 17 Nm.
  • The machine can have up to 16 productive axes and can machine with up to three tools simultaneously.
  • Each lower tool turret accommodates 15 VDI 25 tool holders with W serration; all tool stations are designed for live tools.
  • Tools up to 250 mm long can be used in the motor milling spindle.
  • The optional iXcenter robot cell includes a 6-axis robot for up to 7 kg payload with integrated gripper control and a double gripper as standard.
  • A UNIMAG 5 interface allows connection of the INDEX MBL76 bar loader for 3 m or 4 m bars.
  • WHU/WH2 workpiece handling systems have four axes and are operated via the machine control system.
  • The linear unloading unit is designed for parts up to 5 kg, Ø65 mm diameter, and 200 mm length.
  • A central fluid circuit removes waste heat from the spindles, hydraulic unit, and electrical cabinet; an INDEX cold-water interface allows heat extraction.

Safety

  • The work area allows simultaneous machining with three tool carriers while minimizing collision risk; the lower tool carriers are submerged for collision clearance.
  • In the optional iXcenter robot cell, the robot accesses the machine work area through an automatic door.
  • A handshake interface is available for part handling between the robot and machine-integrated automation via a separate access hatch.
