FANUC M-950iA/500

The M-950iA/500 is a six-axis serial-link industrial robot with a 500 kg wrist load capacity and a 2830 mm reach, intended for lifting and moving large, heavy parts. Its serial-link mechanism lets the arm extend upright and rotate backward with little interference, so it can be installed in tight workspaces. It runs on the R-30iB Plus controller series.

Study notes

  • Serial-link mechanism, not parallel-link: wider range of motion and less interference when the arm is extended upright or rotated backward.
  • Stated motion ranges: J1 370°, J2 150°, J3 392°, J4 720°, J5 244°, J6 720°.
  • Repeatability ±0.08 mm, based on ISO 928.
  • Mechanical weight of 2500 kg is given without the controller.
  • Body protection is IP54 as standard; IP67 is available on request for the wrist and J3 arm.
  • Allowable moments/inertia listed: J4 3420 N·m / 1100 kg·m², J5 3420 N·m / 1100 kg·m², J6 1850 N·m / 445 kg·m².
  • Average power consumption is 5 kW.
  • Applications listed for the series include assembly, material removal, palletizing, picking and packaging, welding, dispensing and sealing, and spot welding.
  • During short distance motions the axis speed may not reach the stated maximum value.
