DMG MORI ULTRASONIC 60 eVo linear 2nd Generation

The ULTRASONIC 60 eVo linear 2nd Generation is a universal machining centre that combines 5-axis simultaneous milling with mill-turn operation. It superimposes an ultrasonic oscillation of up to 15 µm on the rotating tool through an HSK-A63 interface, which lowers process forces and is intended for machining advanced materials. A swivel rotary table with a B-axis from -5° to +110° and a C-axis reaching 1,200 rpm provide the rotary motions.

Study notes

  • Control and software alternatives are listed only as SIEMENS; no matching controller entry exists in the reference list.
  • Workpiece limits: max. diameter 700 mm (28 in.), max. height 550 mm (22 in.), max. weight 500 kg (1,102 lbs).
  • Standard spindle is speedMASTER 20,000 rpm; options are speedMASTER 15,000 rpm with 200 Nm and a motor spindle at 24,000 rpm.
  • Mill-turn operation uses a motor spindle rated 18,000 rpm, 130 Nm and HSK A63, with C-axis speed up to 1,200 rpm.
  • ULTRASONIC technology is integrated via HSK-A63 interface, superimposing tool rotation with amplitudes up to 15 µm and reducing process forces by up to 50%.
  • Surface quality up to Ra < 0.1 µm and longer tool life are stated as ULTRASONIC benefits.
  • The 3rd generation ULTRASONIC control is stated as fully compatible with the 2nd generation ULTRASONIC actuator.
  • Thermal stability measures: cooling of the table unit, table bearings and drives; cooling of ball screw drive bearings and spindle nuts; cooled guideways in the X/Y/Z linear axes.
  • Dedicated coolant treatment systems with centrifuges are offered for ULTRASONIC processing of advanced materials.
  • Standard or customised automation is available in the VERTICO design.
