Chiron FZ 19

The Chiron FZ 19 is a five-axis single-spindle machining center in a mobile gantry design for complex tool, machinery, aerospace and automotive components. It uses a CHIRON Group motor spindle with HSK-A63 tooling and travels 850 mm in X, 980 mm in Y and 700 mm in Z. Spindle speed reaches 20,000 rpm and rapid feed reaches 75 m/min on the linear axes.

Study notes

  • Chip-to-chip time is 2.4 s; the machine has one milling spindle.
  • Milling spindle speed range is 12,500–20,000 rpm and torque range is 86–208 Nm.
  • Chain magazine holds 42–196 tools; maximum tool diameter is 78 mm (160 mm with free secondary space), maximum tool length 450 mm and maximum tool weight 10.0 kg.
  • Axis acceleration is 11 m/s² in X and Y and 18 m/s² in Z.
  • Mobile gantry design with actively cooled drive components and gantry round axes with direct torque drive.
  • Tool change can occur during machine operation; operation uses TouchLine.
  • The FZ 19 S mill turn version can turn workpieces up to 0.8 t and 800 mm in diameter.
