Chiron DZ 12

The Chiron DZ 12 is a compact vertical machining centre from the 12 Series with two milling spindles set 250 mm apart on a travelling column, intended for high output per unit cost. Its X-Y-Z travel is 550 x 400 x 400 mm with rapid feed of 75 m/min on all three axes. Milling spindle speed spans 15,000 to 24,000 rpm and it takes HSK-A50 or HSK-A63 tooling from a chain magazine.

Study notes

  • Milling spindle speed range is 15,000 – 24,000 rpm; spindle torque range is 29 – 59 Nm.
  • Number of milling spindles: 2, with a spindle distance of 250 mm.
  • Chain magazine tool options run from 2 x 12 to 2 x 104 positions.
  • Max tool diameter 85 mm, or 100 mm with free secondary space; max tool length 250 mm; max tool weight 5.0 kg.
  • Chip-to-chip time is 3.1 s.
  • Axis acceleration is 10 m/s² in X, 15 m/s² in Y and 15 m/s² in Z.
  • Machine bed is mineral cast and the column is a vertical travelling column.
  • The 12 Series page also names DZ 12 S (five-axis) and DZ 12 W (with workpiece changer) variants; no separate technical data for those is given in this document.

Safety

  • The working area is fully enclosed with stainless steel covers.
