CODESYS SIN

SIN is an IEC 61131-3 operator that returns the sine of a number. The input is an angle expressed in radians and may be any numeric basic data type, while the result is written to a REAL or LREAL variable. It is shown in a structured text assignment and in FBD.

Study notes

  • Permitted data types for input variables that measure the angle in radians: any numeric basic data type.
  • Permitted data types for the output variable: REAL and LREAL.
  • The permitted range for the input value is given as −263 to +263; on x86 and x64 systems, if the input value is outside the permitted range, the function returns the input value.
  • Example: SIN (0.5) gives the result q := 0.479426.
  • Shown in structured text as q := SIN (0.5); and also available in FBD.
