LinuxCNC G92.2

G92.2 is a LinuxCNC G-code that turns off the G92 coordinate system offsets currently in effect. Unlike G92.1, it does not clear the stored offset values; parameters 5211 to 5219 remain available so the offsets can be restored later with G92.3. It is used to remove a temporary G92 origin shift between runs or programs without losing the saved values.

Study notes

  • G92.2 turns off G92 offsets but keeps parameters 5211 to 5219 available for later use.
  • G92.1 differs from G92.2: it turns off G92 offsets and also resets parameters 5211 to 5219 to zero.
  • G92.3 restores the G92 offset to the values saved in parameters 5211 to 5219, which G92.2 leaves intact.
  • LinuxCNC stores G92 offsets and reuses them on the next run of a program; programming G92.1 erases them while G92.2 only removes them.
  • G92 offsets are held in parameters 5211 to 5219 as absolute machine coordinates in the native machine units specified in the INI file.
  • G92.2 only clears G92 offsets; changing G53 to G59.3 coordinate system offsets in G-code requires G10 L2 or G10 L20.

Safety

  • The document warns that G92 should only be used after the machine has been positioned to the desired point.
