LinuxCNC G80

G80 is a LinuxCNC G-code that cancels canned cycle modal motion. It belongs to modal group 1, so programming any other G-code from that group also cancels the canned cycle. After G80, motion must be turned back on with a motion mode word such as G0 before further axis moves.

Study notes

  • G80 is grouped with the canned cycles G81 through G89, which are described together in the same section of the LinuxCNC G-code reference.
  • If a canned cycle is not turned off with G80 or another motion word, the cycle repeats using the next block of code that contains an X, Y, or Z word.
  • In the source example, G90 G81 X1 Y1 Z1.5 R2.8 followed by G80 and G0 X0 Y0 Z0 produces the same final position and machine state as the G81 line followed directly by G0 X0 Y0 Z0.

Safety

  • It is an error if axis words are programmed when G80 is active.
