LinuxCNC G56

G56 is a LinuxCNC G-code that selects coordinate system 3, the third of the nine stored workpiece coordinate systems G54 through G59.3. The axis offsets and the XY rotation angle around Z for that coordinate system are read from saved parameters, so subsequent axis words are interpreted in coordinate system 3.

Study notes

  • G56 selects coordinate system 3; the series runs G54 (CS1) through G59.3 (CS9).
  • Coordinate system 3 stores its values in parameters 5261 (X), 5262 (Y), 5263 (Z), 5264 (A), 5265 (B), 5266 (C), 5267 (U), 5268 (V), 5269 (W) and 5270 (R, the XY rotation angle around Z).
  • The offset values of coordinate system 3 are written with G10 L2 P3 (or calculated with G10 L20 P3).
  • The rotation R is counterclockwise as viewed from the positive end of the Z axis.

Safety

  • It is an error to select a coordinate system while cutter compensation is on.
