The Makino U86 is a wire EDM machine with a stationary work table and X/Y travels of 800 mm and 600 mm. It uses the Hyper i control and a three-sided rise-and-fall work tank, and it is designed to machine workpieces up to 3,000 kg.
Hyper i control uses a 24-inch class touch screen and a Program/Setup/Run operating sequence.
U-axis and V-axis each have ±101 mm travel.
Available wire diameters are 0.20 mm, 0.25 mm, and 0.30 mm.
The description states a standard Z-stroke of 520 mm and an optional 620 mm version; the metric table lists Z travel as 500 mm, while the English table lists 12.6 in (19.7 in optional).
The machine has two independent CNC-controlled flush pumps and uses H.E.A.T. (High Energy Applied Technology) for difficult flushing conditions.
A Split-V wire guide system provides automatic wire threading at full Z-stroke height.
The work tank is listed as 1400 x 910 mm in the metric table and 55.1 x 38.9 in in the English table.
The English table lists maximum workpiece size as 48.0 x 35.8 x 19.7 in.
Safety
The three-sided rise-and-fall work tank provides unimpeded access to the work zone from three sides for loading and unloading.
Maximum work tank fill height is 50 mm above the highest Z-stroke position.
