INDEX MS24-6

The INDEX MS24-6 is a front-opening multi-spindle automatic lathe for bar-turned parts, built either as a six-spindle or as a double three-spindle machine. It machines bars up to 24 mm diameter at spindle speeds up to 10,000 rpm, with up to 15 kW and 18 Nm, and uses live tools for milling, gear cutting, hobbing and cross-hole deburring, plus rear-end machining with a synchronized spindle. Control is a Siemens S840D sl with an 18.5-inch multi-touch screen.

Study notes

  • Control is a Siemens S840D sl CNC; this control is not among the referenced controller ids.
  • Machine is offered as a six-spindle or as a double three-spindle machine.
  • Spindle data block 1: max. number 6, power at 100% / 25% duty 8.7 / 15 kW, torque at 100% / 25% duty 10 / 18 Nm, 24 mm bar capacity, 10,000 rpm.
  • Spindle data block 2: max. number 2, power at 100% / 40% duty 9.2 / 12 kW, torque at 100% / 40% duty 11 / 14 Nm, 24 mm bar capacity, 10,000 rpm.
  • Slide travels given: X 62 mm, Y ±13 mm, Z 85 mm; a further Z slide travel of 120 mm is listed with the second spindle data block.
  • Up to 12 tools listed for one slide unit; number of tools for backworking is 6 (and 3 / 6 for a second unit).
  • Rear-end machining uses a synchronized spindle; maximum 6 tools for backworking.
  • X-axis slides use sliding guides; Z-axis uses quills with hydrostatic support; workholding is hydraulically clamped.
  • Milling options: side milling cutter with C-axis operation, end mill with Y-axis mode, plunge milling.
  • Hobbing can be shifted with the Y-axis; elliptical deburring of cross-drill holes is interpolated from C, X and Z axes with a live tool.
  • Dimensions of the long version: 3,387 x 1,906 x 2,854 mm.
