GROB G520

The GROB G520 is a two-spindle modular machining center for automotive series production. It machines two parts in parallel and can be equipped with an integrated pallet changer to handle dissimilar parts without change-over times. Working travels are 750/1,000/870 mm in X/Y/Z, with maximum axis speeds of 95/70/120 m/min.

Study notes

  • Working travels X/Y/Z: 750/1,000/870 mm. Maximum axis speeds X/Y/Z: 95/70/120 m/min.
  • Positioning accuracy X/Y/Z: 0.006 mm. Chip-to-chip time t1: 2.1 s according to VDI 2852.
  • Interference diameter: 2 x 798 mm.
  • Total weight: 22,500 kg without pallet changer, 28,500 kg with pallet changer.
  • Table load: 2 x 625 kg without pallet, 2 x 525 kg with pallet (A-/B-axis).
  • Typical crankcase machining example: motorized spindle 18,000 rpm, 29 kW / 34.6 Nm.
  • Motorized spindle versions include HSK-A63 and HSK-A100 with ratings from 6,000 to 18,000 rpm and 47 Nm to 344 Nm.
  • CNC control options: SIEMENS (standard), FANUC (option); specific controller models are not stated.
  • Tool magazine options: single-disk, double-disk and triple-disk; tool pockets in the magazine are expandable.
  • GROB Spindle Diagnostics (GSD) monitors motorized spindle condition. GROB Chip-in-Spindle Detection System (SiS) detects chips between the plain surface and spindle nose from 10 μm.
  • Loading options: top loading with agile loading gantry, Cartesian linear gantry or Cartesian linear gantry with telescope; front loading with automatic sliding changer or swiveling changer.
  • Axes are divided into tool side and part side according to the modular concept.
