Study notes

  • Chip-to-chip time t1 is 2.6 s according to VDI 2852, relative to speed (rpm).
  • Positioning accuracy is 0.006 mm in the X, Y and Z axes.
  • Interference diameter is 900 mm.
  • Total weight is 19,000 kg without pallet changer and 22,000 kg with pallet changer.
  • Motorized spindle options cover HSK-A63 (47–199 Nm, 8,000–18,000 rpm) and HSK-A100 (185.5–575 Nm, 6,000–12,000 rpm).
  • Control system is SIEMENS as standard, with FANUC available as an option.
  • Tool magazine options include a tool changer arm, a single disk-type tool magazine and a double disk-type tool magazine.
  • GROB Spindle Diagnostics (GSD) automatically monitors the condition of the motorized spindle to support scheduled maintenance and reduce tool wear.

Safety

  • GROB Chip-in-Spindle Detection System (SiS) detects tool clamping faults caused by chips between the plain surface and the spindle nose from 10 μm.
