DMG MORI SPRINT 42 linear

The SPRINT 42 linear is an automatic turning machine from DMG MORI with six linear axes and two C-axes, built for turning bar stock up to 42 mm diameter and workpieces up to 320 mm long. It has a main spindle and a counter spindle, each rated at 6,500 rpm, plus 26 tool stations, of which up to 11 can be driven. The X1 axis uses a linear drive with 1 g acceleration, and the machine is operated through a DMG SLIMline panel with a FANUC 310i control.

Study notes

  • Machine has 6 linear axes and 2 C-axes; the X1 axis is a linear drive with 1 g acceleration.
  • Main spindle: 6,500 rpm, 37.5 Nm, 5.5 kW. Counter spindle: 6,500 rpm, 19.6 Nm, 3.7 kW.
  • 26 tool stations in total: 8 driven tool stations as standard, up to 11 driven tools, and 3 driven frontal stations.
  • Driven tool spindles: 5,000 rpm, 3 Nm, 1.9 kW.
  • Control hardware is a DMG SLIMline with a 15-inch screen and FANUC 310i, with 2 control channels; up to 2 tools can work simultaneously.
  • Tool Monitoring System with graphical tool load display is available as an option.
  • Machine bed is thermo-symmetric; large ball guide ways at balanced distance maintain constant stiffness; vertical covers give free chip fall; main and counter spindles use integrated spindle motors with direct measuring systems.
  • The FANUC 310i control is not in the reference controller list, so no controller id is linked.
