DMG MORI DMU 600 Gantry linear

The DMU 600 Gantry linear is a high-gantry milling machine built for large workpieces, with travels of 18,000 mm in X, 4,500 mm in Y and 2,000 mm in Z. All axes use direct drive technology: linear drives on X, Y and Z, and torque drives on the A and C rotary axes. It is intended for machining workpieces up to 18,000 mm long, 2,800 mm wide, 2,500 mm high and 150,000 kg in weight.

Study notes

  • Workpiece envelope stated in the document: maximum length 18,000 mm, maximum width 2,800 mm, maximum height 2,500 mm, maximum weight 150,000 kg.
  • X axis is 6,000 mm as standard and can be freely extended; the 18,000 mm figure is the maximum X-axis stroke.
  • Y axis crossbeam traverse is 3,500 mm as standard with an optional 4,500 mm; 4,500 mm is the maximum Y-axis stroke.
  • Z axis is a ram with strokes up to 2,000 mm.
  • Control and software alternatives listed are SIEMENS and HEIDENHAIN, which have no matching controller entries in the reference list.
  • Drive arrangement: linear drives on X, Y and Z axes; torque drives on A and C rotary axes.
  • Crossbeam, X axis beds, ram and Y/Z slide are made of EN-GJS-600-3 (GGG60) cast iron.
  • Machine structure uses FEM optimisation and structural cooling for geometric stability, plus Thermoshield technology.
