# Kaizen event

Operations · `Kaizen event` · verification: source checked

A kaizen event (kaizen workshop) is a group improvement activity, commonly lasting five days, in which a team identifies and implements a significant change to a process. In the typical example the team builds a continuous flow cell within a week: participants learn continuous flow principles, assess actual conditions at the gemba, plan the cell, move machines, and test the new cell. The improved process is then standardized and the team reports out to senior management.
