# LinuxCNC M50 Feed Override Control

Instructions · `M50` · verification: source checked

M50 is a LinuxCNC M-code that enables or disables the feed rate override control on its own, separately from spindle speed override. With no P word, or P1, the feed override is enabled, so the operator's override control scales the programmed feed rate. M50 P0 disables the control, so the override has no influence and motion runs at the programmed feed rate.

## Study notes

- M50 takes an optional P word: P1 (or no P word) enables feed rate override, P0 disables it.
- While the override is disabled, motion is executed at the programmed feed rate unless an adaptive feed rate override is active.
- M50 is the individual feed override control; the document notes that feed and spindle speed overrides can also be toggled together with M48/M49.
