# LinuxCNC M1

Instructions · `M1` · verification: source checked

M1 is a LinuxCNC G-code command that pauses a running program temporarily, but only when the optional stop switch is on. During the pause LinuxCNC stays in Auto Mode, so MDI and other manual actions are not enabled. Pressing the resume button restarts the program at the following line.

## Study notes

- M1 pauses only if the optional stop switch is on; M0 pauses regardless.
- While paused the machine remains in Auto Mode, so MDI and other manual actions are not enabled.
- Pressing the resume button restarts the program at the following line.
- Programming M0 and M1 in MDI mode is allowed, but the effect will probably not be noticeable because MDI normally stops after each line of input.
