# LinuxCNC G90

Instructions · `G90` · verification: source checked

G90 selects absolute distance mode in LinuxCNC. In this mode, axis numbers for X, Y, Z, A, B, C, U, V, and W usually represent positions in the currently active coordinate system rather than increments from the current position. Exceptions are described in the canned cycle section.

## Study notes

- G91 selects incremental distance mode, where axis numbers usually represent increments from the current coordinate.
- In G80-G89 canned cycles, absolute distance mode interprets X, Y, R, and Z numbers as absolute positions in the current coordinate system.
- G90.1 sets absolute distance mode for I, J, and K offsets; G91.1 sets incremental distance mode for I, J, and K offsets.
