# LinuxCNC G28.1

Instructions · `G28.1` · verification: source checked

G28.1 is a LinuxCNC G-code that stores the current absolute position into parameters 5161-5166. It is used to set the predefined position that G28 later moves to.

## Specification

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Language | gcode |
| Code | G28.1 |
| Group | Go/Set Predefined Position |
| Syntax | G28.1 |
| Dialect | LinuxCNC |

## Safety

- Only use G28 when the machine is homed to a repeatable position and the desired G28 position has been stored with G28.1.
- Cutter compensation must be off; programming G28.1 with cutter compensation on is an error.

## Study notes

- G28.1 stores the current absolute position into parameters 5161-5166.
- G28 uses values stored in parameters 5161-5169 as the final point for a rapid move to the predefined position.
- If no positions are stored with G28.1, G28 moves all axes to the machine origin.
