# LinuxCNC G17.1

G17.1 is a LinuxCNC plane-selection G-code. It sets the active plane to UV. The UV, WU and VW planes do not support arcs.

## Study notes

- G17.1 selects the UV plane; G17 selects XY, G18 selects ZX, G19 selects YZ, G18.1 selects WU and G19.1 selects VW.
- The UV, WU and VW planes do not support arcs.
- Include a plane selection in the preamble of each G-code file.
- In the G17.1 plane, canned-cycle action is along W, and locations or increments are given with U and V.
- When a UVW-family plane is active, XYZ axis words are not allowed in canned cycles; rotary axis words are not allowed in canned cycles.
