# LinuxCNC G10 L10 Set Tool Table

Instructions · `G10 L10` · verification: source checked

G10 L10 changes the tool table entry for tool P so that, with the machine at its current position and the current G5x and G52/G92 offsets active, the current coordinates of the given axes become the given values after the tool offset is reloaded. Axes not named in the command are not changed. The document notes it can be useful together with a probe move as described in the G38 section.

## Specification

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Language | gcode |
| Code | G10 L10 |
| Group | tool table |
| Syntax | G10 L10 P- axes <R- I- J- Q-> |
| Dialect | LinuxCNC |

### Parameters

| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| P | tool number |
| axes | axis words whose current coordinates are to become the given values; axes not specified are not changed |
| R | radius of tool |
| I | front angle (lathe) |
| J | back angle (lathe) |
| Q | orientation (lathe) |

## Safety

- It is an error if cutter compensation is on when G10 L10 is executed.
- It is an error if the P number is unspecified, is not a valid tool number from the tool table, or is 0.

## Study notes

- Example: T1 M6 G43 loads tool 1 and tool length offsets; G10 L10 P1 Z1.5 sets the current position for Z to be 1.5; G43 then reloads the tool length offsets from the changed tool table.
- G10 L11 is like G10 L10 except the entry is set so the current coordinates would become the given value if the new tool offset is reloaded with the machine placed in the G59.3 coordinate system and no G52/G92 offset active, allowing tools to be measured against a fixture.
- G10 L0 reloads all tool table data and requires that no current tool is loaded in the spindle.
