# LinuxCNC G1 Linear Move

Instructions · `G1` · verification: source checked

G1 is a G-code instruction that commands a coordinated straight-line move to a destination point at the current feed rate, or slower. It is used for linear motion for cutting or non-cutting moves. Axis words specify the destination, and any omitted axes keep their previous values.

## Specification

| Property | Value |

## Study notes

- G1 is optional if the current motion mode is already G1.
- If G53 is programmed on the same line, the motion is performed in machine coordinates.
- It is an error if no feed rate has been set.
- It is an error if an axis letter has no real value or if an axis letter is used that is not configured.
- Axis words are optional; omitted axes retain their original value.
