# Beckhoff CX8190

The CX8190 is a fanless embedded controller running Windows Embedded Compact 7 with the TwinCAT 3 runtime. It has an Arm Cortex-A9 processor and provides one RJ45 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface plus a bus interface switched to two RJ45 sockets. K-bus or E-bus terminals connect to it and the connected I/O type is recognised automatically at start-up.

## Study notes

- Product status: regular delivery, not recommended for new projects; recommended alternative is CX8290.
- Control software is TwinCAT 3 runtime (XAR); TwinCAT 3 licenses are ordered via the TwinCAT 3 price list, and TwinCAT is supported only up to build 4024.

- Main memory is 512 MB DDR3 RAM (not expandable); flash storage is a microSD slot with a 512 MB card included, optionally expandable.
- An integrated 1-second UPS (1 MB on microSD card) is provided.
